Annotation

Rhino UK CD (Card Sleeve) version of the “Singles Box".
A clam shell card box containing the first ten UK-issued Smiths singles in original picture sleeves, featuring the original 12” single tracklistings, plus the first single ‘Hand In Glove’ that was only ever issued as a two-track 7". Two singles are exclusive to this box set; The rare Francois Kevorkian-mixed “New York” 12” version of “This Charming Man” which had a limited issue in December 1983 and the German import-only 12” version of “Barbarism Begins At Home” from 1985. The box is completed with a poster featuring the single artworks.

All singles utilize newly re-mastered audio and feature many non-album tracks, including the hard to find B-side live BBC tracks recorded at the Oxford Apollo in 1985.

Limited to 10K copies only. The first 200 pre-orders received an exclusive "A" label promo CD single.

Pressing Anomalies/Variations.
Disc 4: The track duration for the 7" version of 'What Difference Does It Make' is printed on the disc (3:34). The version on the CD is the full 12"/album mix which is 3:51. This info is correct in the booklet.
Disc 5: The album version of Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now is used here. The original 12" had a slightly extended version.
Disc 6: The 7" mix of 'How Soon Is Now' is used on this disc. The original 12" used the full 6:43 version. This info is noted in the booklet.
Disc 7: Track duration for 'Well I Wonder' is listed incorrectly on the disc and the in the booklet. Correct time is 4:00.
Disc 8: Track duration for 'What She Said' is listed incorrectly on the disc and the in the booklet. Correct time is 2:40. Also the wrong mix of 'Stretch Out And Wait' has been used. The version contained here is the one from The World Won't Listen compilation which has slightly different lyrics. The correct mix is available on the Louder Than Bombs compilation.
Disc 9: The 7" edit of 'Barbarism Begins At Home' has been used instead of the full album version that was used for the original 12". This disc is a closer replica to the Barbarism Begins At Home original Rough Trade CD single although the wrong version of 'Stretch Out And Wait' has been used here also.
Disc 10: The original 12" had no fading in and out of the live tracks.
Disc 11: The album version of 'The Boy With The Thorn In His Side' has been used instead of the single version. On the original 12" the end of the track 'Rubber Ring' is slightly longer and fades out over the top of the next song 'Asleep'. The 7" mix of 'Asleep' has been used here along with the cut ending version of 'Rubber Ring' from The World Won't Listen compilation.
