Requiem
~ Release by Mozart; Tilla Briem, Gertrud Freimuth, Walther Ludwig, Fred Drissen, Bruno-Kittel-Chor, Berliner Philharmoniker, Bruno Kittel (see all versions of this release, 1 available)
Annotation
Mozart’s Requiem is here sung in a textual variant: “Mozarts Requiem wurde in einer dem Regime genehmen Textversion eingesungen, in der alle Hinweise auf die jüdischen Wurzeln des Christentums getilgt waren. So hieß es beispielsweise statt »Te decet hymnus, Deus in Sion« nun »Deus in coelis«, anstellle von »in Jerusalem« »hic in terra«.” Booklet page 8—9 The “Deus in (Sion →) coelis” is heard in the opening Introitus’ soprano solo (track 1 @1:56).
