Can't speak for every "roots of genre" release out there, the sole reason this doesn't have the full five stars. Many, many, MANY of these recordings are in fact at the root of that brief period known as rock & roll, and the selection here as a bonus is almost universally excellent. It is a considered, inexpensive, and decently produced introduction for any music fan, and the best I've come across so far, even if it's 20 years old.
(Note that it has almost no liner notes whatsoever, but MB has the full write-up now ;))
