THE MUSIC
It’s been a long time coming.
‘Don’t Burn The Fortune’ is a love-letter to the lost, the abandoned, the broken, the empty. It is a paean to the apocalypse. This is one for the lonely, the forgotten, the bastard step-children that LOVE’s velvet glove has forsaken. Murder ballads, torch songs, sea shanties, country waltzes, apocalyptic trasho spectaculoso.
‘Don’t Burn The Fortune’ has taken The Big Nowhere, and left us bruised and beaten. But we did it for you. We did it to redeem YOU. Because if we can redeem you.. then there just might be a hope, however slim, that we can be saved too.
‘Don’t Burn The Fortune’ has lost us friends, comrades, lovers and band members. But still, we clung on to that hope. Now we’re ready. Now we walk unflinchingly into the light with these songs as our armour, and you can too.

THE ARTWORK
The music can speak for itself, however, the artwork has its own story to tell. We enlisted a few of our friends to contribute to the artwork for the CD booklet for ‘Don’t Burn The Fortune’.
Contributors include - author and comics genius Neil Gaiman; legendary singer-songwriter and BBC6 Music presenter Tom Robinson; TROMA films head and director Lloyd Kauffman; author Christopher Moore; singersongwriter Stephen Jones (Babybird); singer-songwriters Devon Sproule and Paul Curreri; and comedian Josie Long.
Each was asked to draw whatever ‘Don’t Burn The Fortune’ brought to mind. The results will be exclusively available in the CD booklet for ‘Fortune’s limited edition of 100 CD release on the 1st of May 2013.
BACKGROUND
The Big Nowhere have been flooring audiences with bravura performances with the likes of Justin Townes Earle, First Aid Kit, Kat Men and Doug Paisley to name a few. The band also gave a stand-out performance at this year’s Celtic Connections. They are regularly heard on radio across the world. ‘To The End Of The World’ from their ‘Christmas In The Gutter’ EP was used as the title music for the comedy short film ‘Jerry Generic : Modern Comedian’, and was chosen as the final track played on Tom Robinson’s BBC6 Music ‘Introducing’ show.
