‘The Next Wave is like my hottest record in the world, but for bands, and tonight it’s Hello Cosmos…. From the title through to the sound and the lyrics there’s a definite rally cry here… I love what they are doing, people need to get onboard with this and check them out.’ Jack Saunders, The Next Wave, BBC RADIO 1
Hello Cosmos are a Manchester based band and collective of creatives. The band are a unique offering with a post punk four piece at their core and a global cast of collaborators at their outer reaches.
Described as “Epic rock like Muse with Mark E.Smith, John Cooper Clarke and a Northern Mike Skinner all mixing together to create that fully charged out-there sound.” by Chris Hawkins of BBC Radio 6 Music
FUSE is the opening track to Hello Cosmos’ debut album.
The title refers to the moment the sound of Hello Cosmos fused together creating a blueprint for the debut album. The rally cry vocals over the heavy rock drums with crystal clear production emerged from Greenmount Studios in Leeds. Experiments in the studio nestled beneath an old Church led to a baby grand piano being routed through Angela’s FX pedal board giving the unique synth sounds.
FUSE was inspired by the energy, punchy riff and direct vocals of Beastie Boys ‘Gratitude’ after Ben became obsessively hooked on listening to it on a trip to Spain.
‘Epic stuff, will be rising up the bill in the years to come, I’m going to go and listen to more of that.’ Gordon Smart, Radio X
