All the Unimportant Things' represents the first studio-recorded album from Built from Sticks, a marked change from Jamie's previous home-recorded approach. With the new recording environment, has also brought a subtle evolution in sound, with the minimalist artist cautiously adding new layers of sound, leading to a more dynamic and diverse offering. Built from Sticks' typically loose, and meandering song structures, have been reigned in somewhat, though still being allowed the space to spread out, and breathe, reminiscent of his post-rock, and slo-core influences.
