Annotation

With existentialist lyrics inspired by the Frankfurt school, Robyn Trachsel, guitarist, and vocalist of Asbest, breaks down complex issues into simple words and slogans. «Valium for the masses» - an oxymoron and a common populist tool. Asbest are trying to do the opposite: use their music and their message as a wake-up call and present a new perspective on entrenched opinions and ideas.

With «Cyanide», Asbest (Robyn Trachsel, vocals/guitar, Judith Breitinger, bass/vocals and Jonas Häne, drums) have created a safe space protected from assault, where heavy music inspires you to reflect and scream along.

«By presenting our perspectives to other people through music, touching them and making them think, we can effect small changes and perhaps make the world a better place. It’s clear that we need mor people who identify as female, lesbian, intersex, nonbinary or trans* on stage. We like to think of ourselves as role models in that respect. » - Asbest

With «Cyanide» (19.05.2023, A Tree in a Field Records), Asbest stay true to their mix of post-punk, shoegaze and noise rock, recorded with a delicate touch at Milberg Studios, Stuttgart, by Ralv Milberg (Die Nerven, Human Abfall).
