Annotation
British electronica stalwart Kelpe (DC Recordings, Black Acre) releases his latest album via his own DRUT imprint. On Boiling, Steaming and Poaching, the one born Kel McKeown goes deep on the ambient influences that have always lurked in the corners of the Kelpe sound. These six tracks spin themselves out from pretty piano motifs and lush synth pads without a drum in sight. Boards of Canada are the obvious touchstone for tracks like glacial opener ‘Carillon Chimes’, while the shadows of Brian Eno and Olafur Arnalds loom over piano pieces ‘Tomato Day’, ‘Maroon Bells Variation’ and ‘01 06 1972 - 18 01 2016’.
