The Presidents of the United States of America (early indie release)

~ Release by The Presidents of the United States of America (see all versions of this release, 22 available)

Annotation

Original issue of the album on Popllama records. Due to unexpected popularity, the band signed to Sony Columbia, who remastered & rereleased the album within a few months. The Popllama release is much quieter & has a higher dynamic range.

This initial release features many unique differences. The "Fuck you Kitty" refrain from the first track is censored with an obtrusive beep, & there is an extra verse present on "Feather Pluckn" that leans heavily on the Beatles track "I've Got A Feeling." The liner notes feature a picture of the band with Bill Clinton, allegedly removed later at request of the White House (although this is unsourced). The photo was evidently taken at a Clinton rally the band played at a teenage Chelsea Clinton's behest; their manager was present between Dave & Bill but later photoshopped out.

Only about 6,000 copies of this specific release were pressed on CD.
