Buenas Nochas! Motor City (1978‐12‐02: Cobo Arena, Detroit, MI, USA)

This soundboard recording of the complete show is truly amazing in terms of sound quality (EX) and the absence of cuts in the songs make this recording a must-have for any fan of vintage Rush. Geddy’s vocals sound particularly good on this recording. Fortunately, this show is from early enough in the tour that they are still playing “Circumstances”. About the only glitch in the show is an abrupt transition into Working Man.

The source is extremely low gen, 1st or 2nd at worst. Everything is crystal clear with virtually no tape hiss to be heard anywhere in the recording. There is some minor tape fluctuation during the first part of the show, only noticeable to those that desire nothing but absolute perfection. It is great to hear a fully uncut version of Cygnus X-1 and Hemispheres. The boys sound great on this night, Geddy is hitting the high notes with Neil putting down a firm foundation for Alex's searing solos.

There is a bit of flutter during the first song or two and Working Man's beginning is slightly cut. These are small prices to pay in exchange for a complete and uncut Cygnus X-1, Hemispheres and CTTH!!! Geddy is very talkative and Neil's drums are hitting hard.

Intro starts out a little rough and moves about during the beginning of Anthem. By the middle of Anthem this seems to settle down. It is kinda cool hearing the stereo mix during Hemispheres (wear headphones – very cool). If you don’t have it you must get it, if for nothing else the fact that it has The Trees/Cygnus X-1/Hemispheres/Closer To The Heart and UNCUT. The only other negative is a cut at the beginning of Working Man.
