lyrics from a poem by Hrebinka said to be set to a Florian Hermann composition titled "Hommage-Valse, op. 21" in an arrangment by an S. Gerdel'. described as “a Gypsy Romance to the melody of ‘Hommage-Valse’ by Hermann” in an edition of compiled sheet music said to be published "shortly after March 7, 1884" by an A. Büttner, and republished in 1897 as "Favorite Songs of Moscow Gypsies" by an A. Gutheil. — source

Очи чёрныя, очи страстныя,
Очи жгучія и прекрасныя!
Какъ люблю я васъ, какъ боюсь я васъ!
Знать, увидѣлъ васъ я въ недобрый часъ!
Охъ, недаромъ вы глубины темнѣй!
Вижу трауръ въ васъ по душѣ моей,

Сожжено на нёмъ сердце бѣдное.
